Seventeen VC Law Enforcement Academy cadets honored at graduation ceremony

VICTORIA, Texas — On May 25, 17 Law Enforcement Academy cadets graduated from Victoria College’s 100th Basic Peace Officer Certification Class. The cadets were honored at a graduation ceremony at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Victoria.

Joshua Homan was named valedictorian of the class and Connor Patterson received the John Baylor Award for Outstanding Achievement. Class instructors select the “most outstanding student” for the award, which is named in honor of the former Victoria Police Department officer.

VC offers an academy in the fall semester and another in the spring semester. Both take place Monday through Friday with classes lasting eight to 10 hours a day.
