UPDATE: Sheriff Justin Marr provides update on post-social media investigation

School and law enforcement will resume normal operations

UPDATE: At 9:40 a.m., the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the investigation into a social media post released Tuesday night involving Victoria West High School.

This morning the VCSO School Resource Unit became aware of a post that was shared on a social media platform last night. In response, the VCSO added additional deputy sheriffs to campus and parking lots at West High School as a precaution.

Authorities also opened an investigation into the posting this morning. As a result of the investigation, the post was identified as having circulated on the internet and other social media platforms in multiple jurisdictions in Texas and nationwide.

Sheriff Justin Marr said his office remains vigilant to this incident and any other incidents of this nature in the future. School and law enforcement will resume normal operations at that time.

VICTORIA, Texas – On Wednesday, September 14, the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office informed the community of an investigation into a social media post published Tuesday night involving Victoria West High School.

Local law enforcement is currently working to identify the individual and investigate the nature of the message. VCSO assigned additional deputy sheriffs to the school this morning and to the area as a precaution.

VCSO reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm or that further action is needed.
