Local youth learn about careers in public safety on Law Enforcement Explorers Day – Boston 25 News

MILTON, Mass. – The Spirit of Adventure Council’s Explorer Program returned to Scouts New England Base Camp in Milton for the second year in a row to host Law Enforcement Explorers Day on Saturday.

The Scouts Explorer program is the Boy Scouts Spirit of Adventure Council program that inspires children and young adults to seek careers in law enforcement.

“I have just retired after 33½ years with the Winchester Police Department,” said Dan Perenick, Exploration Commissioner for the Spirit of Adventure Council. “I was a law enforcement explorer myself as a kid, and it gave me the tools to pursue a career in law enforcement. It’s a great opportunity to meet people, learn things and learn how to save lives. It’s just a wonderful career.

The day included first-hand demonstrations of what a career in public safety would look like.

Representatives from several local police departments, Massachusetts State Police, US Coast Guard, FBI, Salvation Army and more were all on hand to talk to attendees and guide them. through various events.

“I want to be a detective eventually,” said contestant Adrianna Rizzotto, of Winthrop. “I respect them [law enforcement] a lot, I think everyone else should too, it’s not at all an easy job to do.
